Big Brothers Big Sisters of Monmouth & Middlesex Counties started as Big Brothers Big Sisters of Monmouth County in 1976. Resident Curtis Colby, befriended a boy, Joey whose father had died. Joey was in counseling at CPC and Curtis spent time with Joey as a CPC volunteer. He soon realized the positive impact this one-to-one relationship had on Joey. Joey had a younger brother who had an equal need for an adult male in his life. Curtis took it upon himself to contact the Monmouth County Division of Social Services and with their support and his leadership our agency was officially established.
Our agency recognized the need for youth mentoring in Middlesex County and gained approval from Big Brothers Big Sisters of America to serve the children there on January 1, 2011.
