About Us

The Cahoon Museum of American Art boasts eight galleries in a beautiful 1775 Georgian Colonial home. Highlights of the permanent collection include the paintings of celebrated Cape folk artists Ralph and Martha Cahoon and 19th century gems by the likes of James Buttersworth, William Bradford, Ralph Blakelock, John J. Enneking and Erastus Salisbury Field. Seven or eight special exhibitions over the year cover the whole range of American art. The museum also has a charming gift shop, Mermaids Cove. Open year round (except January). Hours are Tuesday-Saturday 10 am-4 pm and Sunday 1-4 pm. Admission is $6 for non-members, $5 for seniors, $4 for students, free for children under 12. Tours are available by request.
