Our Mission: The DuPage Homeownership Center (DHOC) is a nonprofit organization that provides a full range of services to promote responsible sustainable homeownership, with an emphasis on serving first-time homebuyers, low- and moderate-income households and homeowners in crisis.
For almost a quarter century, the DuPage Homeownership Center (DHOC) has been serving the needs of DuPage County. In 1991 DHOC was created to “Promote and Preserve Homeownership for low and moderate-income clients in DuPage”. By providing pre and post-home purchase education and individual counseling, DHOC has helped many achieve their dream of home ownership. As administrators of the DuPage County Homestead Grant Program – which offers up to $14,999 for first-time homebuyers - DHOC has helped borrowers with limited assets get the extra boost they needed to purchase their first home.
In 2008, when the recession and foreclosure crisis hit, DHOC enhanced it services to aid those facing the loss of their home. Offering both group and individual foreclosure counseling and the Illinois Hardest Hit relief program, DHOC has helped home owners avoid foreclosure and get back on track.
Now in 2014 DHOC continuing to adapt to community needs has created an all new financial capabilities program. The Financial Fitness Program offers 6 diverse educational workshops designed to demystify the financial services options available today, as well as, provide the one-on-one coaching necessary to encourage behavioral changes required for life long client success.
As we approach our silver anniversary DHOC remains a faithful servant of the people of DuPage County and looks forward to helping them create a better and brighter future.
