G.J. Gardner Homes Grand Junction is owned by Lawrence Balerio and his wife Charlotte, along with his mother Dorothy and his sister Suzette. Lawrence was born and raised in Grand Junction and is proud to be a native of such an amazing community and all that it has to offer. A construction industry veteran for close to 30 years, Lawrence began his career in the construction industry after finishing school, working for local contractors doing concrete and excavation. At the age of 20 Lawrence was offered a position with Unocal as an underground miner which enabled him to run a variety of heavy equipment. This gave him the knowledge and experience to open up his own excavation and concrete company. As the company began to grow, Lawrence brought in his wife, sister and mother to help manage the business’s day-to-day operation. This gave Lawrence an opportunity to begin developing land working through the planning process and with the City of Grand Junction to obtain all necessary permits and approvals.Lawrence has successfully developed several subdivisions in and around the Western Slope. Realizing that his passion for the business was more for building custom houses, Lawrence began building custom homes and was integral in the success of The Orchard, a 56 lot subdivision which was in bankruptcy but is now thriving. The Balerios joined the G.J. Gardner team in 2013 and will build in subdivisions in Grand Junction and the surrounding area. Active in the community, Lawrence has sat on the board of the Riverside Task Force and was a member of The Alternative Board, a local business development group. When he’s not planning and building houses, Lawrence enjoys spending time with his wife and their four children, usually outdoors. The family likes to go skiing, camping, hunting, and enjoys the beautiful scenery that surrounds Grand Junction.
