Windermere Preparatory School is a private, pre-kindergarten to 12th grade, coeducational college preparatory school in the Windermere, Florida, USA area. The school opened on September 5, 2000 using temporary portable classrooms with an enrollment of 184 students and 25 teachers. Today, that enrollment has grown to 876 students with a full fledged 48-acre (190,000 m2) campus. The Class of 2008 was the first graduating class of Windermere Prep. Windermere Prep is also one of the first private schools in Orange County to be fully wireless and requires all students from 5th through 12th grade to bring their own laptops to school. It is currently under the ownership of Meritas. The High School is a fully accredited International Baccalaureate World School, one of very few in Florida. That program guarantees acceptance of course load as highly rigorous and positions the students to be able to complete nearly an entire year of college level classes by graduation if they choose that path. Middle School and High School both heavily incorporate the Socratic Method in every classroom.
