Wine connects people. If you’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting a winemaker, you probably realized that he or she is an artist; blending soil, Mother Nature, and chemistry to create a product that embodies the art of living. Each day, people share meals, stories, and experiences with friends and a good bottle of wine. It represents a huge share of wallet (nearly $40bn), yet only 3.5% of wine sales happen online. There are currently more than 8,500 wineries in the U.S. alone; yet the vast majority are unknown to most consumers, who are only exposed to the small fraction of brands that make it into stores or onto restaurant menus.
